UEFA C Futsal Diploma – Gibraltar FA

Aim

The Gibraltar FA / UEFA C Futsal Course is designed to support coaches working, or wishing to work, within the futsal environment.

The course provides coaches with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills required to plan, deliver, and review effective futsal coaching sessions. It is aimed at developing coaches who can create positive learning environments, support player enjoyment and development, and apply futsal-specific coaching principles across grassroots, youth and club settings.

In line with UEFA coach education principles, the course will help candidates develop their understanding of the technical, tactical, physical, psychological and social aspects of player development, with a specific focus on how these apply within the fast-paced and decision-rich game of futsal.

About

The Gibraltar FA / UEFA C Futsal Course will be delivered through a blended learning approach, combining online learning, practical contact days, e-learning tasks and applied coaching practice.

Candidates will explore the key demands of futsal, including the laws of the game, player roles, technical actions, tactical understanding, transitions, attacking and defending principles, and the importance of decision-making in small-sided indoor football.

In addition to on-course practical tasks and assessments, theory tasks will be required to successfully complete the course.

The course is designed to support coaches in applying futsal-specific methods within their own coaching environment and may provide a foundation for further progression within the Gibraltar FA and UEFA coach education pathway.

Mentoring & Assessment

Candidates will have 2 Mentoring Sessions followed by 2 assessment sessions on the modes of practice educated within this course.  All sessions will be completed with the candidate’s club players and in reality, to their environment.

** Applicants who are not based in Gibraltar or within close proximity must have their own camera equipment ( I.E. VEO ) available to record their mentoring sessions.

Outcomes

The Gibraltar FA / UEFA C Futsal Course will provide coaches with the opportunity to develop their understanding of futsal and how its principles can be embedded into effective coaching practices.

Coaches will learn how to plan and deliver practices that reflect the demands of the futsal game, including ball mastery, movement, support, combination play, defending, attacking and transition moments.

The course will also encourage candidates to create enjoyable, challenging and player-centred learning environments that help players improve their technical ability, decision-making and understanding of the game.

By the end of the course, coaches should feel more confident in delivering futsal sessions, adapting practices to suit the age and ability of their players, and using futsal as a tool to support player development.

Course Prerequisites

To apply for the Gibraltar FA / UEFA C Futsal Course, applicants must meet the criteria set by the Gibraltar FA.

Essential Prerequisites

Applicants must normally hold:

• The required introductory or grassroots coaching qualification recognised by the Gibraltar FA
• A valid First Aid or Football Emergency Aid qualification, or equivalent
• A valid Safeguarding qualification, or equivalent
• Sufficient spoken and written skills in English
• Access to a suitable futsal or football coaching environment for the duration of the course
• A commitment to completing all online, practical and post-contact course requirements.
