Aim

The Gibraltar FA / UEFA B Diploma is designed to provide coaches with the knowledge, skills and practical experience required to work effectively with players aged U12 and above. In line with the UEFA Coaching Convention, the course supports coaches in developing their understanding of the game, their ability to plan and deliver effective coaching sessions, and their capacity to support player development within the Gibraltar football environment.

The course combines theoretical learning, online study and practical delivery, ensuring that candidates are able to connect coaching principles with real on-pitch practice.

About

The Gibraltar FA / UEFA B Diploma develops a coach’s technical, tactical and game understanding through a blended learning approach. This includes online classroom sessions, guided learning, e-learning modules and in-person practical contact days.

The programme focuses on helping coaches understand the demands of the game, design appropriate practices, manage players and groups effectively, and apply coaching methods that reflect the age, ability and needs of the players they work with.

Mentoring & Assessment

Coaches will have 3 Mentoring sessions followed by 3 Assessment sessions on the modes of practice educated within this course.  All sessions will be completed with the candidates club players and in reality to their environment.

Outcomes

By the end of the course, coaches should feel confident, creative and capable when planning, delivering and reviewing coaching sessions within their club or football environment.

UEFA B Diploma coaches are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to ongoing learning, be reflective in their practice, and show the ability to adapt their coaching knowledge across different players, teams and match situations.

Eligibility

To be admitted onto the Gibraltar FA / UEFA B Diploma, candidates must:

• Possess sufficient spoken and written skills in English
• Meet the admission criteria set by the Gibraltar FA
• Submit all required application documents by the stated deadline
• Hold any prerequisite coaching qualification required by the Gibraltar FA and UEFA Coaching Convention
• Have no criminal record for offences incompatible with the coaching profession
• Be actively coaching or have access to a suitable football environment for the duration of the course
