GFA C Goalkeepers Diploma 2026 / 2027

Aim

This course gives coaches the opportunity to develop their skills and progress along our coach education pathway.

Those who complete the course will learn about planning, preparation and reflection of their sessions and develop a better understanding of the technical, tactical, physical, psychological, and social requirements of modern goalkeepers.

About

Coaches will be supported through practical and theory work as well as on-course mentoring sessions and distance learning.

Mentoring & assessment

Coaches will have 3 Mentoring sessions followed by 3 Assessment sessions on the modes of practice educated within this course.  All sessions will be completed with the candidates club players and in reality to their environment.

Outcome

The course is designed to look closer at the technical mechanics of the goalkeeper and how coaches can positively affect performance.

Course Prerequisites

To apply for the Gibraltar FA Goalkeepers C Certificate, applicants must meet the criteria set by the Gibraltar FA.

Essential Prerequisites

Applicants must normally hold:

• The required introductory or grassroots coaching qualification recognised by the Gibraltar FA
• A valid First Aid or Football Emergency Aid qualification, or equivalent
• A valid Safeguarding qualification, or equivalent
• Sufficient spoken and written skills in English
• Access to a suitable goalkeeper or football coaching environment for the duration of the course
• A commitment to completing all online, practical and post-contact course requirements

Where a discounted rate is available, candidates must meet the criteria set by the Gibraltar FA.
